Need a quick Valentine’s Day gift or treat? These heart shaped shortbread cookies are your answer! They are quick, easy, and most importantly, delicious!!! They only have 4 ingredients, which you probably already have in your kitchen.
We found the recipe for these shortbread cookies a few years ago in the holiday issue of Everyday Food by Martha Stewart. Did I mention that I LOVE shortbread cookies??? They are buttery, slightly salty, hearty and never too sweet. They go great with a cup of coffee, a large glass of milk, another shortbread cookie, another shortbread cookie …… They would be perfect for a lovely afternoon tea party.
We loved this recipe back when we first tried it and pulled it out the other day to make some heart shaped shortbread for Valentine’s Day. We “fancied” them up a bit by rolling the edges in some festive red and white sanding sugar before baking. The true test was when Miss 4 kept asking for “just one more cookie mama”. Once cooled, we packaged them up in clear bags, tied them with red jute and “I Love You” tags to give to family and friends. I promise you, these cookies are wonderful!
